Earlier this week, officers from the Prince William County Police Department were called to investigate a potential threat of violence that was made on social media toward Lake Ridge Middle School in Woodbridge.

The investigation determined that a young girl who was later identified as a student at a different school, posted threats over Snapchat, which were immediately brought to the police by a Lake Ridge student, who alerted her parents about the post.

During the investigation, a School Resource Officer assigned to the school identified the juvenile who allegedly sent the messages, and determined the threat to not be credible.

A 12-year-old girl was ultimately identified as the sender, and she was taken into custody and charged with making threats of death or bodily injury. Her court date is pending and she is being held at the Prince William County Juvenile Detention Center.
